I had some left over curtain lining in white and lots of felt. I cut a rectangle and the ends were frayed. I was just going to hand stitch the ends, but the Hubby chimed in (more about that later). I cut various colors of felt into 4X4 inch squares. I then cut smaller squares from scraps of felt. I glued the scrap pieces on the white rectangle with proper spacing to place the squares.
Elle then matched the large squares to the small squares by color.
After she had them all placed, we glued them down. It took FOREVER, but was fun ( I am also not sure why my hand is missing from my sweatshirt sleeve in the pic???)
We used it for a scavenger hunt too! Elle came back with little trinkets from around our home and placed them on the corresponding colors. I am planning to print out color words and have Ella match them to the quilt.

Oh wow, that little costume is darling!!!
ReplyDeleteI really need to look for some of the Llama, Llama books - I read about them on blogs all the time, and we've never read any of them!
What a great craft idea...my little guy would love that...also love the costume and how funny about your husband taking over the sewing!!! Good times!
ReplyDeleteI have no discernible sewing skills either! Love that you got a photo of your hubs, but the last picture is my absolute favorite!!
ReplyDeleteI have no sewing skills whatsoever! My mother-in-law tried desperately to teach me to no avail! Love the quilt idea! So cute!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the felt color activity idea. Simple and fun. And she does look adorable as little lamb. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea - quilt and scavenger hunt! And, your Grammy's sewing...wow, that is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. I love the scavenger hunt idea to go along with it. I'm thinking we may do some variation of this here. Putting this post in my favorites for future reference.
ReplyDeleteI love Kohl's and their $5 books! Such a great deal, and such a great benefit. Thanks for sharing. P.S. So cute your hubby sitting there trying to figure it out..... :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! We just saw the llamas in Kohl's on Wednesday and Noah tried to walk off with one. :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable!! You're so clever.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great project and book to go with it. I loved when my husband got behind my sewing machine to make his own halloween costume one year too. I love Ella's costume, your grandma is very talented!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking to stART :0)
Wow, I have so much to say about this post. First of all, is that a REAL little girl in the lamb costume? Oh my, she looks like a precious little doll! And I love the picture of your husband sewing, how wonderful. I never heard of stitch witchery before. I like to hand sew little things, mostly buttons.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out the Llama Llama book, sounds very cute. What a great craft idea!
I saw the Llama Llama books at Khols on Friday! I love your quilt and gathering activity.

OMG! That little lamb costume is precious.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!
Love that book and love that grammy masterpiece! Does your mom give lessons and live in Chicago???
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to Creative Juice. Hope to see you back again this week...
I broke down and bought that book at Kohls this week for my 2 year old Michelle. She knows the series from a paperback copy of "Llama, Llama Mad At Mamma" that my middle daughter bought at a school book fair last year. I feel extra guilty because I just told the girls last week that we wouldn't be buying books at the school book fair because their bookshelves are already overflowing and we make frequent trips to the library. Classic case of "Do as I say, not as I do" (I hope).
ReplyDeleteOkay, I am going to Kohls tomorrow! I hope they still have it! One of my daughter's all time favorite books is Llama Llama! Thanks for the link! I followed the link and I thought it was going to lead me to the Llama Llama project that we did. It was definitely one of those projects that didn't work out quite like expected...it looked like a crime scene photo lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments!
ReplyDeleteStill loving the book and the quilt at our home.
Have a good week!
